![]() we are back down to about 15 cards which is a good number. distractions still happen but they are manageable with some basic parenting.Ĭhange 4: We are now at 35 cards and she is getting board and disgruntled I start "promoting" cards to two easy decks that we only do on the weekends. To fix this she sits on my lap on the floor now while we do the flash cards. Im not looking and she is getting easily distract with rolling around. This problem pops it's head up again later on.Ĭhange 3: At this point she is laying on her bed and I'm on the floor with my back to her. The real problem is there is so many cards she fails on that its not fun anymore. The tricks are usually forgotten as they become "sight" words.Ĭhange 2: She is doing great, but I got a little ambitious and started adding 2 cards. for "of" it looks like a person taking a pizza out of a oven or Of-en. for these would come up with tricks, we still do this but rarely. This is what I hope saves you time.Ĭhange 1: there are some words she would get really stuck on one of which was "of". The changes below are a list of things I changed, in order. She also gets a sticker that she gets to put on her bed, I like to remind her that that those stickers represent a lot of hard work. We also try to find our sight words at the store, when where bored, etc. This is great as the context helps a lot. I ask her to read the word, if she is struggling with it. Trying to sound out the whole word is confusing, I'm not the best with long and short vowel sounds. Starting state: we do every word every time, if she doesn't know we sound out the first letter. ![]() We have a nightly routine that involves flash cards below is how it has evolved. I know there are a lot of other ways but this is what I choose. We read a lot, but also liked the idea of doing some vocabulary words as flash cards. ![]() I wanted to make sure my daughter didn't have the same problem. I had a hard time reading as a kid, I hated reading.
